Reuben Pinkham
Reuben Pinkham had planted an orange grove about eight miles south of present day Vero Beach, later authorities gave him much credit as an eminent horticulturist, by accident or by know how. When the Indian River Colony was attacked by Seminole warriors almost the entire colony set sail with Captain Pinkham, and headed for St. Augustine. It is not likely that Captain Pinkham returned after the Colony dissolved. He is listed as living in St. Augustine, Florida with his wife Agatha in the 1850 and 1860 St. Johns County Federal Census. His children included: Marie, Antonia, Bartolo, Margarette, Reuben (who passes away between 1850-60), William, Catherine and a second child named Reuben.
